Here is a fun alternative to a conventional Phnom Penh Airport taxi: Once you exit the Arrivals door at Phnom Penh Airport, you will be greeted by several people trying to sell you a taxi ride into town. They will show you a piece of paper with an image of a tuk tuk (in Cambodia this usually means a motorcycle with a covered trailer) and the fixed price of USD 7 will be written on it. If you wish to share a tuk tuk with someone else to town heading to a different destination the price is USD 9-12. An all-day hire runs about USD 30.


There is usually a little bit of pressure to take a tuk tuk, but drivers are not as aggressive as in neighbouring Thailand. If you decide to take a tuk tuk, then the ride to town is fun and takes about 30 minutes. Tuk tuks belch up a lot of fumes, so if you do not handle exhaust well then opt for a car, although they are uncommon.


If you would like a car, there are a couple of small on-call taxi services to choose from. Taxi Vantha is reliable and available 24 hours.




 Unofficial Phnom Penh Airport Taxi Service or Hire Points

 

If you do not have much luggage, you can walk out of the Phnom Penh Airport to the main road (about 2 minutes) and catch a moped taxi (motorcycle taxi). These taxis allow one person to ride on the back and are faster than the tuk tuks. A moped taxi should cost USD 2-3, but expect to negotiate.
