A public bus operates from the TWU Tawau Airport into Tawau and return. The bus ticket counter is located in the Parkwell Survey Supermarket back entrance. The bus itself awaits passengers on the main road in front of the Klinik Famili shop. The bus leaves as per the domestic flight schedule so 4 options per day: 06:30, 08:30, 13:00, 16:00.

Numerous long-distance bus companies (Trans Tedar Express, Delima Zamrud and Sairah Express to name a few), operate from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Semporna leave from the Sabindu Bus Station beside the Mosque.


This bus terminal is beside the famous seafood stalls. And the new Mosque is a 10 minute walk from here. This is the location that travelers board buses for Lahad Datu (150 km away), Sandakan (360 km away) and Kota Kinabalu (560 km away). Fares from Tawau are:

Please note that if you are taking a bus from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu that you will no longer be dropped off in the central business district but rather 10 kilometres away in Inanam Town and you will need to find another method (i.e. taxi) to get into town.


There is no bus from Tawau Town to Indonesia, simply because there is no road going there. But there are daily buses from Kuching City to indonesia.
