Where is Seychelles Airport?  

The Seychelles, a beautiful archipelago of 115 islands, lies 1,500 kilometres (932 miles) east of mainland Africa, in the Indian Ocean, northeast of Madagascar.

The small capital of Victoria is located on the northeastern side of Mahé island. Victoria's post office, courthouse and clock tower in the centre of town are virtually unchanged since British colonial times.

Seychelles International Airport (IATA: SEZ, ICAO: FSIA), also known as Mahe Airport, referred to as Aéroport de la pointe Larue or La pointe Larue Airport by locals, is located 11 kimometres (6.6 miles) southeast of Victoria, on the island of Mahé, Seychelles. Inter-island flights depart from the domestic terminal (a short walk away).

Airlines that fly to Seychelles Airport include Air Seychelles, Condor, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Kenya Airways and Qatar Airways.

Cities with flights to Seychelles Airport include Abu Dhabi, Addis Ababa, Doha, Dubai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Mauritius and Nairobi.

Inter-island flights operate about every 10–15 minutes at busy times and coordinated with international arrivals and departures, or about every 30 minutes at other times.

At present, there are two GSM networks in operation, Cable & Wireless and Airtel, with special packages available for visitors. Payphones are available in most districts on the Inner Islands.

 

The Seychelles are not tolerant of backpackers turning up at the airport without accommodation booked. In such a situation, you will likely be taken to a counter where you will have to book and pay for accommodation for the duration of your trip before being allowed through immigration.
