RUH Riyadh Airport Info & Guide

Where is Riyadh Airport?
Considered the most straight-laced of Saudia Arabia's biggest cities, Riyadh, the nation's capital, is a business-only destination. There are few sights, and most forms of entertainment are banned. This vast and sprawling city also has a brutal climate (summer temperatures regularly exceed 50°C/122°F).
Riyadh International Airport (IATA: RUH, ICAO: OERK), officially King Khalid International Airport or King Khalid Airport, commonly referred to as Riyadh Airport, is located 35 kilometres (22 miles) north of the city of Riyadh, in Riyadh province, Saudi Arabia. The airport is sometimes referred to as KKIA or KKIA Airport, however this is not an official airport code.
RUH Airport's accompanying property is massive, among the largest in the world. It's hardly surprising that it was an alternate landing site for NASA's Space Shuttle. There are multiple terminals, but the Royal Family has their own.
Riyadh Airport serves more than 15 million passengers a year, making it the busiest of the country's 7 international airports.
Airlines that fly to Riyadh Airport include Air Arabia, Air France, Air India, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, EgyptAir, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad Airways, flydubai, Gulf Air, Jet Airways, Korean Air, Kuwait Airways, Lufthansa, Nas Air, Oman Air, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, Saudia, SpiceJet, Srilankan Airlines and Turkish Airlines.
Cities with flights to Riyadh Airport include Abu Dhabi, Addis Abada, Alexandria, Amman, Bahrain, Bangalore, Beirut, Cairo, Casablanca, Chennai, Delhi, Doha, Dubai, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hong Kong, Islamabad, Istanbul, Jakarta, Jeddah, Karachi, Kochi, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait, London, Lucknow, Madrid, Manila, New York, Paris, Rome, Seoul, Singapore, Tehran and Washington DC.
Other Items of Interest at Riyadh Airport
Get a window seat, if you can, and see what you can spot during landing. As there are accomodations on the property for airport workers, there are schools, swimming pools, villas and more on-site.
The airport's unique design features a large mosque which can accomodate 5,000 worshippers (and another 5.000 outside). The dome and minaret rise above the other terminal buildings. You'll see the mosque at Riyadh Airport as soon as you leave the Arrivals area, and you may hear the call to prayer, broadcast from the minaret 5 times daily.
Riyadh Airport services include:
- Moving walkways between terminals
- Bilingual staff
- Koranic library - adjacent to the mosque
